Committees

A successful Chamber depends on the vitality and activity of its many committees.

We have plenty of opportunities for our members to volunteer and make a difference in the community!  Please email us to join a committee or ask questions.

 Committee  Scope of Work

Holiday Faire

This committee is responsible for coordinating the Chamber's annual flagship event!

Activities include: coordinating event entertainment, raising sponsorship dollars, marketing both in and out of the area, assisting with festive decorations in downtown Frazier Park, coordinating parade participants and the parade route, and soliciting local businesses and artisans to participate in the event either with a booth or by keeping their store open during the event.

Ambassadors

The Ambassadors identify and visit new businesses and provide membership information.  Ambassadors also contact chamber members annually to ensure they are satisfied with the organization.

Business Development

This committee partners with the Chamber board members to liaise with regional efforts supporting entrepreneurship.  The committee also assists with researching online and print resources that assist start-up businesses in our region.  The committee provides at least one monthly article for the Chamber newsletter topical to their work in business growth and development.  Future committee activities may include workshops, Business at Breakfast meetings, and an awards program that recognizes and honors businesses in our region.

Education

The Education Committee is a new committee that will explore the possibility of establishing an annual Career Day for high school juniors.  This committee will also develop a program to recognize excellence in education through awards, grants and scholarships.

Finance

This committee develops an annual budget that addresses and supports the annual Business Plan for the Board of Director's review.  The committee also monitors the Chamber's finances monthly and addresses any issues that arise.  The committee will also identify existing and potential revenue streams to support the organization's Business Plan.  Future plans include an annual review by an independent accountant to ensure the organization's financials are accurate and transparent.

Health/Wellness

The Health and Wellness Committee is a new committee exploring the possibility of establishing health and wellness initiatives for businesses and employees in our region.

Leadership

The committee assists with developing the Chamber's community leadership program Leadership Engaged!  A project component will also be identified that focuses on a key community need or issue.  That identified need or issue will be included as a project for completion during the Leadership Engaged! Program.  Future activities include promoting leadership opportunities to alumni and recommending possible alumni engagement initiatives.

Legislative (Government Affairs)

The Legislative Committee supports the Chamber's mission to influence public policy by being the "Voice of Business" at the local, state, and federal level for our region.  This committee actively advocates for legislation that supports a pro-business environment, while working to defeat legislation that will be detrimental to business.  The committee will provide at least one monthly article for the Chamber newsletter topical to their work in government affairs.  The committee communicates key issues to Chamber members with strategies for members to voice their support or opposition.  Future activties may include delegations to Sacramento and visits with local government officials.

Nonprofit

Recognizing that our region has a number of nonprofit organizations, the Chamber is proposing a committee to address the specific concerns of our nonprofit members.  The scope of work will be developed as the committee takes shape.

Nominating

Members of this committee are appointed by the President of the Board, subject to approval by the Board of Directors.  However, it does help to have information about those interested in serving on the committee, so please notify us!  This committee is appointed in September to present a slate of candidates to the Board to replace the directors whose regular terms are expiring.  The slate is to be presented to the Board by October 1.
